The purpose of Silvia Manoliu Association for Anglophone Studies (SMAAS) is to encourage the development of research in English, American and Anglophone studies and in EFL teaching methodology. We want to foster cooperation and exchange among researchers and teaching professionals, by specific activities such as the publishing and dissemination of scholarly work, the undertaking of educational projects, the organization of symposia and other events.
Silvia Manoliu, Associate Professor of Linguistics, currently retired, has had a fundamental contribution to the setting up and development of the English Studies programmes at Ștefan cel Mare University of Suceava. As the first head of the English Department, she was ‒ and has remained ‒ a model of dedication to the profession. Throughout her professional lifetime, Silvia Manoliu has been a committed educator and mentor as well as a researcher in the areas of English lexicology, morphology, phonetics and semantics. Her expertise in the field of EFL methodology inspires us all to consider new opportunities for English language teaching and learning.
SMAAS exists for educational, scientific, and cultural purposes only.
