Starting from the significance of reading dystopian fiction and analyzing the symbols behind the surface level of the story, this paper aims to discover the direct link between the diegetic world created by George Orwell in Nineteen Eighty-Four and the non-diegetic world, our reality. Through the use of literary motifs, the literary text has a lot more depth, which helps the reader to connect previous knowledge with the one newly discovered. The notorious novel about a dystopian society can act as a cautionary tale for what is worst to come in the future, but is the future closer than we imagine? The aim of this study is to highlight the similarities between Orwell’s novel and our society. Scary as it may seem, we are not alone and independent but our actions are watched and analyzed, we are about to determine how.
